A grant is "gift aid" based on need, and is usually offered with work-study authorization or a loan that meets the student's needs. To apply for a federal Pell Grant, Supplemental Grant (SEOG) or Washington State Need Grant (for Washington residents only) complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Indicate on the FAFSA whether your prefer a work-study job or are interested in a subsidized student loan. If you qualify, your financial aid award will include work-study or subsidized loan authorization.

You must also fill out a Financial Aid Data Sheet. Printed copies and assistance are available at the Financial Aid Office or you can fill out the Financial Aid Data Sheet online at Financial Aid.

To receive need-based aid, you need to supply proof of income, such as a federal tax return. The Fall 2009 Priority Application Deadline is August 17, 2009. You can find more information about financial aid deadlines at Financial Aid.
