The Opportunity Grant Program is available for students entering certain high-demand career pathways. Opportunity Grants offer a combination of financial assistance and individualized support services.
Eligibility
To be eligible for an Opportunity Grant, you must:
- Be a Washington resident
- Have a family income at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines for household size.
- Apply for Financial Aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to establish financial need, however; receiving financial aid is not required.
- Be in an academic program approved for Opportunity Grant funding in one of the following high-demand career pathways:
- Automotive Technology
- Business Management
- Early Childhood Education
- Selected Health Occupations
- Manufacturing Occupations
- Welding

Students participating in I-BEST may automatically qualify for the Opportunity Grant Program
Awards
Awards may include tuition and fees, books, required supplies and tools plus extra support to help students succeed. Awardees must meet weekly contact and daily attendance requirements. Students who do not qualify for traditional financial aid (no selective service, no ability to benefit, cancelled/terminated financial aid, and default) may qualify for the Opportunity Grant.
