Brings successful writers to Lower Columbia College and the Longview Public Library to discuss their craft and read from their work. The public is invited to these free workshops and readings.

    Greg Bear
    Writer's Workshop: Where you get ideas, and how to know when one is ready to become a story
    Bear is a Seattle-based award-winning writer of science-fiction and fantasy books, including: City at the End of Time, 2008; Darwin's Radio, 2000; Moving Mars, 1994

    Suzanne Martinson

    Reading from her book The Fallingwater Cookbook due out in October of this year. Suzanne is a former food editor and writer for the Pittsburgh Press and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She is a two-time winner of both the James Beard and Bert Greene Awards for food journalism.

    Writer's Workshop: Dear Reader - Writing Letter Poems
    From William Stafford and Marvin Bell to Natasha Trethewey, contemporary poets have turned the familiar touchstones and intimate flavor of the letter into art. We will read a few varieties of epistolary poems, discuss the form's charms and hazards, then try one of our own!

      Followed by a public reading and open mic at the Longview Public Library beginning at 6:30 pm. Please bring a favorite poem to read. Cake will be served.
