Community Choir

Community Piano

Piano Basics 1 & 2
Whether you are just starting out, or have had some training in piano, this hands-on piano lab will inspire and motivate you to learn while doing. Get 12 hours of training with local piano instructor, Karla Dudley, for only $20 plus the cost of a book. “Alfred All-in-One Adult Method, Level 1” is available at the LCC Bookstore. Music Made Easy
Gain a complete understanding of rhythm, melody, and harmony, and recognize pitches on the musical staff and on the keyboard. Each lesson will build on previous lessons, while also introducing new musical concepts. Learn beat, meter, note, and rest values followed by identifying pitches by octave, building major scales, and understanding the role of keys in creating melodies. By the time you complete this comprehensive and full-featured course, you'll be able to read, write, and even play simple musical pieces on a keyboard.

NEW! Guitar Basics

*NEW: Beginning Folk Guitar
Performer and instructor, Steven Harvey, will help you build a foundation in music that you can enjoy for years to come. You will learn basic chord forms in common keys, strum and rhythm patterns, beginning finger-picking techniques, how to use the capo as applied to vocal range, and how to identify the chord progression of a song. Practice various folk songs to in-corporate the chords and techniques presented. Bring your acoustic guitar, a flat pick, a capo, and a 3-ring binder for hand-outs. Sign up for item number 1994; $65.

*NEW: Intermediate Folk Guitar
Advance your skills by practicing folk/blues songs that develop new abilities, including movable scale patterns, common blues riffs and harmonic runs up the neck of the guitar, movable chord forms, hammer-ons, full-offs, and how to bend and slide notes. Review common chords in common keys for the guitar. Bring your acoustic guitar, a flat pick, a capo, and a 3 ring binder for handouts. Sign up for item number 1996; $65.
