How to Apply

Free Application for Federal Student Aid
Before you can get need-based Financial Aid, you need to fill out the FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Gather up your tax forms and other income support documents. Follow the steps listed on the FAFSA Web site.

LCC's federal school code is 003782.

Next, fill out the 2009-10 Financial Aid Data Sheet and you're on your way.

You may need to provide more information about non-taxed income, child support (paying or receiving), the number of people in your household, or your tax status. Forms are available below:

Loan Forms

If you did not receive a loan in the prior academic year or you are changing lenders you must complete the Loan Worksheet and the Loan Counseling and Master Promissory Note.

Types of Financial Aid

Scholarships
LCC awards more than $300,000 in scholarships each year. Learn more about LCC Scholarships.

Grants
Several different types of federal and state grants are available. Learn more about grants.

Work-Study
Get a job on or off campus and receive a regular paycheck. Jobs are listed on HireConnections.

Loans
Loans should be your last resort for financial aid, but if you need a student loan, we can help you apply.

Hope Tax Credit
Write off your education expenses on your taxes. We'll send you the expense statement you need. Get more information about the Hope Tax Credit.

Veterans Benefits
Resident veterans who served in a combat zone and those who provided direct assistance to veterans in a combat zone may qualify for special tuition rates and other help.

Worker Retraining
Unemployed and underemployed workers, as well as displaced homemakers, are eligible for special funding and other aid. Learn more about Worker Retraining.

Limited Services and Deadlines

Quarterly Priority Deadlines:

The financial aid application process takes at least 3-6 weeks to complete from the date of the initial application, provided that all forms are accurate and complete as requested by the Financial Aid Office.

You are encouraged to submit the Financial Aid Data Sheet and FAFSA at least 8 weeks before the priority deadline to allow adequate time for processing.

Documents submitted after the priority deadline face the risk that grant funding may no longer be available.

Students who submit an application after September 7, 2009 will be required to pay their own tuition, fees, and books the Friday after they register for classes. If eligible for Financial Aid, late applicants will receive an award letter after their applications have been processed.

If your financial aid has been canceled or terminated, you can appeal to the Financial Aid Committee for reinstatement. The committee meets 1-2 times per quarter. For more information contact the Financial Aid Office.
